Definitely go pick this up if you are a fan on ghost books with love interests and a good plot. I know there won't be another book but I would love to find out what happens between Lori and Evan. I truly wanted Lori to realize that she belonged with Evan. I thought it was sweet that he loved her but wanted her to live her life to the fullest without him interfering. He is definitely a good guy and what he told Lori at the end of the book was something I didn't expect from him. I'm not sure what to say or think about Nathaniel.

I didn't exactly know what it was until towards the end though so I am glad the book wasn't predictable. I could tell that something wasn't quite right with Bertha and Old Dryden. I had to redo my make-up when I was finished.Īt first, Lori seems like a sort of distant character with no real personality but as I get a little further in I start to see that she is an amazing girl and is very feisty and definitely doesn't let anyone control her. The writing is great and the characters are awesome. I've seen such negative things about it and don't understand why. GOD! The entire time I was reading the book I was saying four stars, four stars, four stars. I liked the (not dead) guy who takes Lori dancing, has a fun sense of humor, and played her investigative partner in crime MUCH better.REVIEW: OH. All I can say is he's nice, in that bland wet cardboard kinda way. Then there's Nathaniel, the Civil War soldier. Actual teen readers would probably like her more than I did (I felt like my "Old Lady" perspective might have been messing with my ability to connect with her).

As for Lori, though I didn't like her much, I didn't actively dislike her either. This is a beach read and so the fast romance is to be expected.

As it was, main character Lori was a frustrating mix of "mature for her age" teen (who isn't nearly as mature as she thinks she is) and "impulsive teen" who fell in love a little too fast for my tastes.īut that's okay. I probably would have added a half star if I had connected with them more. The characters were the biggest meh factor, and we all know how important characters are for me.

I wish I connected with the characters more Book Review: Rebel Spirits by Lois Ruby.Cover Confessions: Throne of Glass Series.Mini Review: Forevermore by Cindy Miles.Book Review: Sidekicked by John David Anderson.
